director’s responsibility is to be true to the playwright’s intentions, writing homework help

In a well-developed paragraph, please respond to the following question. There are many who believe that the director’s responsibility is to be true to the playwright’s intentions — that the director should be true to the playwright’s words, story line and themes — that the director should make the playwright’s conception and intent come alive on stage. Others, however, believe that the director is responsible only for presenting a compelling production — that he should be free to reorder and rewrite the playwright’s script, add or delete characters and scenes, change time frames, and impose his (the director’s) unique vision on the play. What do you think?

Week 02 Discussion – Hills Like White Elephants

Book: http://www.massey.ac.nz/massey/fms/Colleges/College%20of%20Humanities%20and%20Social%20Sciences/EMS/Readings/139.105/Additional/Hills%20Like%20White%20Elephants%20-%20Ernest%20Hemingway.pdf

1. Do a quick “creative” reading of Hemingway’s short story, “Hills Like White Elephants,” which you will find in the “Plot” section of Chapter 2 in your textbook. Share your feelings and thoughts as you read the story. What memories or feelings did it provoke? Be sure to refer to details in the story. Then exchange ideas with one other student.

2.Story Analysis – More Hills Like White Elephants-

In one or two sentences, summarize the plot of the story. (Clue: You don’t have to know what the “operation” is, but you can speculate.)

What is the major conflict in the story and how is it resolved?

What is the position of the main character at the beginning of the story and at the end.  Is there a gain or a loss?

Explain how plot is entwined with character in this story. In your answer, share whether or not you feel the two characters are acting naturally to what happens. To what extent do their character traits actually determine what happens in the plot?

Can you  imagine another good ending for the story? Why or why not?

.Amanda Ripley “Who Survives Disasters – and Why”, Discussion post help

1.Amanda Ripley “Who Survives Disasters – and Why”

Amanda Ripley shares her insights from the research she has conducted into how and why people behave the way they do in a disaster in this NPR radio interview and excerpt “Life Becomes Like Molten Metal” (below the interview) – the introduction to her book, “The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes – and Why?”. What do you think about her research and in particular to what she refers to as “The Survival Arc”?

about 150-200 words.

link:http://www.npr.org/2008/07/22/92616679/identifying…

2.”Information in a Time of Disaster”

In a disaster or catastrophe the decisions you make often determine whether you survive or not. Those decisions are only as good as the information that they are based on. But how can you tell what is good, valid, and reliable information that should be acted on and what is incomplete, false, or misleading and should be set aside?

After viewing Hailey’s presentation, what are you going to keep foremost in mind when evaluating information during a disaster? and why?

about 150-200 words.

3.How to “Get Out Alive”

Research has shown that “people caught up in disasters” tend to fall into three categories:

  • About 10% to 15% remain calm and act quickly and efficiently.
  • Another 15% or less completely freak out–weeping, screaming or otherwise hindering the evacuation.
  • The vast majority of people do very little. They are “stunned and bewildered.”

In How To Get Out Alive Amanda Ripley explores human behavior in the midst of a disaster and how the lack of preparedness and practice puts us at greater risk of not surviving.

  • What did you find surprising about human behavior shared in the Ripley article?
  • What determines which category a person falls into?

about 150-200 words.

developing the self care plan. 1 page paper and respond to 2 questions

Read pages 205–211 in Trauma-Informed Care in Behavioral Health Services, and reflect on the research you completed in Module Five with regard to community resources.

Then, specifically, review the questions listed for self-care as it relates to the physical, psychological/mental, emotional/relational, and spiritual selves in Exhibit 2.2-14: Comprehensive Self-Care Plan Worksheet Instructions (on p. 209 of the PDF).

In your initial post, select and answer two questions that you are comfortable answering. Be specific and include strategies that are accessible, acceptable, and appropriate to your unique circumstances.

In responding to your classmates’ posts, suggest additional ways in which they can engage in self-reflective processes and identify additional strategies as necessary that may be appropriate. Finally, explain the professional and ethical implications of failing to practice adequate self-care.

Respond to these post:

1. What helps my mind to relax?

When I find that I am stressing over a problem or just life itself. I find that if I go into a quiet room and play games on my tablet my body begins to unwind and the stress begins to leave my body. I would play games on the computer but I found that I would still be stressing because I can always go to the site and pull information on what I am being stressed out about and therefore it is constantly on my mind. I know I can Google on my tablet, but I just use my tablets for games.

What helps me build my theoretical understanding of trauma and addictions? Having dealt with addiction first hand, I can relate to how the addict is feeling and the information that they would listen to at that particular time and what they are not trying to hear. I also have experienced helping people through trauma, the best thing sometimes when one is talking to someone who is going through or has gone through trauma and addiction is to just listen and let them express themselves in their own words and show them that you have empathy for them and that you can relate to the issues that they are experiencing.

2.What are non-chemical things that help my body relax?

My home is my safe and happy place. I try and only allow people and things into my home that add positively to it and try to avoid those and what bring negativity. After a long and hard day, I come home make myself a cup of tea and either watch a favorite tv show or pick up a good book. I also find it helpful to switch my focus from the difficulty and stressors of the day and find at least one thing that brought positivity to my day. Some days is may just be coming home, while other days I am able to think of many. However, this exercise allows me to see that no matter how I feel, at least one thing positive happened that day. I often will take a few moments to clear my head and take a few deep before I walk into my house, after my commute home. Tomorrow is always a new day, there will always be tough days, however the good days far out number the bad ones.

What sustains me during difficult times?

My family and friends are what make my life happy and fulfilling. I know that no matter how difficult my work day is/was, my family will be there to greet me when I get home. My home life can be extremely busy, and evenings are no exception, so often I have little time to dwell on issues at work. I know that even in the difficult times, my family will always be there. I also know, and I am reminded often that the reason that some days are so difficult or that I am affected so deeply is that I truly care. Wanting the best for others, even when it makes is difficult for me, knows that I am doing and working towards the correct goals.

exhibition/gallery/museum review, writing homework help

DIRECTIONS: You will read one exhibition/gallery/museum review from a list provided. They will give their review of the review a snappy title and provide the citation at the top of the post. Citation example, Holland Cotter, “Review: The Smithsonian African American Museum Is Here at Last. And It Uplifts and Upsets,” The New York Times, Sept. 15, 2016. They must hyperlink the citation to the online source.

350-word BLOG POST: First students should identify the author of the review (who are they?) and the venue of publication (what is it? art magazine/popular newspaper?). Students will then outline the critic’s goals and concerns in their review. What is the subject of their review? How do they present their ideas? Does their review connect with you? Do they use language or description to “bring you to the exhibit” or do they use a tone that is particularly persuasive? Is the critic positive or negative? What do you think of their assessment? Are they convincing? Is there anything that you wish they described more closely, or any elements that are confusing? You must include two direct quotations from the review. You must also include at least one image that is referenced in or relates to the content of the review. The image(s) must include a hyperlinked caption: hyperlink plus caption information (Artist, title, date. Medium, dimensions, location, copyright information).

For example: In Nam June Paik’s Electronic Superhighway: Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, 1995, Paik created a fifty-one channel video installation (including one closed-circuit television feed), and utilized custom electronics, neon lighting, steel and wood. The work is approximately 15 x 40 x 4′ and is located at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. (© Nam June Paik Estate) In your post, you should embed at least 2 hyperlinks to other relevant sites or to other images, quotations, and terms. The benefit of web-based writing is that you can link to the entire internet! Utilize those resources! Since these are online forever (!) Dr. Slipp reserves the right to ask you to edit your text or work with Tori.
