developing the self care plan. 1 page paper and respond to 2 questions

Read pages 205–211 in Trauma-Informed Care in Behavioral Health Services, and reflect on the research you completed in Module Five with regard to community resources.

Then, specifically, review the questions listed for self-care as it relates to the physical, psychological/mental, emotional/relational, and spiritual selves in Exhibit 2.2-14: Comprehensive Self-Care Plan Worksheet Instructions (on p. 209 of the PDF).

In your initial post, select and answer two questions that you are comfortable answering. Be specific and include strategies that are accessible, acceptable, and appropriate to your unique circumstances.

In responding to your classmates’ posts, suggest additional ways in which they can engage in self-reflective processes and identify additional strategies as necessary that may be appropriate. Finally, explain the professional and ethical implications of failing to practice adequate self-care.

Respond to these post:

1. What helps my mind to relax?

When I find that I am stressing over a problem or just life itself. I find that if I go into a quiet room and play games on my tablet my body begins to unwind and the stress begins to leave my body. I would play games on the computer but I found that I would still be stressing because I can always go to the site and pull information on what I am being stressed out about and therefore it is constantly on my mind. I know I can Google on my tablet, but I just use my tablets for games.

What helps me build my theoretical understanding of trauma and addictions? Having dealt with addiction first hand, I can relate to how the addict is feeling and the information that they would listen to at that particular time and what they are not trying to hear. I also have experienced helping people through trauma, the best thing sometimes when one is talking to someone who is going through or has gone through trauma and addiction is to just listen and let them express themselves in their own words and show them that you have empathy for them and that you can relate to the issues that they are experiencing.

2.What are non-chemical things that help my body relax?

My home is my safe and happy place. I try and only allow people and things into my home that add positively to it and try to avoid those and what bring negativity. After a long and hard day, I come home make myself a cup of tea and either watch a favorite tv show or pick up a good book. I also find it helpful to switch my focus from the difficulty and stressors of the day and find at least one thing that brought positivity to my day. Some days is may just be coming home, while other days I am able to think of many. However, this exercise allows me to see that no matter how I feel, at least one thing positive happened that day. I often will take a few moments to clear my head and take a few deep before I walk into my house, after my commute home. Tomorrow is always a new day, there will always be tough days, however the good days far out number the bad ones.

What sustains me during difficult times?

My family and friends are what make my life happy and fulfilling. I know that no matter how difficult my work day is/was, my family will be there to greet me when I get home. My home life can be extremely busy, and evenings are no exception, so often I have little time to dwell on issues at work. I know that even in the difficult times, my family will always be there. I also know, and I am reminded often that the reason that some days are so difficult or that I am affected so deeply is that I truly care. Wanting the best for others, even when it makes is difficult for me, knows that I am doing and working towards the correct goals.
