How-should-one-live-philosophy-homework-help

I need a short response to this question.

This week, we’ll be reading two different accounts of how philosophy pertains to the “good life.” Of course, one question we’ll want to discuss is “What is the good life?” For Socrates, the good life could only be achieved through doing philosophy. More specifically, it consisted in contemplating the virtues–that is, figuring out how to be moral. For Socrates, “the unexamined life is not worth living.”

Similarly, although further away in time and place, Buddha thought that a life of balance would help one to avoid suffering, and achieve wisdom. This, would result in a “good life.”

For this week’s discussion, let’s bring these two thinkers into our time. Imagine Socrates and Buddha are somehow revived and brought to Southern California. How would they view our culture from the lenses of their philosophies? Would they see their ideas played out? If so, in what ways? If not, what kinds of examples can you give to show this? Finally, can/does doing philosophy lead to the good life?
