sql injection response

The University just learned that sensitive information has been stolen from a student information system and posted on the Web. After reviewing web server and database logs, the IT Services believes that the source of the problem is a SQL injection vulnerability. The vulnerability appears to exist in a web application used by students to register for courses. As part of the incident response report to be submitted to the Front Office, your supervisor asks you to provide details about this type of vulnerability, how an attacker might exploit it, and methods of detection and removal.

Tasks

Research SQL injection attacks on the Internet to supplement your existing knowledge. Using the information you discovered during this research, in conjunction with what you learned in class, write an incident response report for detailing the following information:

A non-technical description of SQL injection vulnerabilities intended for a college management audience.

The threat that SQL injection poses to the college’s data. Include three possible scenarios that describe how an attacker might conduct this type of attack, the information that they may be able to obtain, and how they might use it maliciously.

An implementation plan to fortify the college’s web applications against SQL injection attacks

A monitoring plan that will provide:

Early warning to developers and security administrators that a SQL injection vulnerability exists in a web application

Detection of successful and unsuccessful attempts to conduct SQL injection attacks against college systems

Instructions

Part 1: Create a PowerPoint

You are a paralegal on the legal team who represents Brooke Adams in her personal injury action against Grumpy Trucking Company. On behalf of Brooke, your supervising attorney, with your help, sued Grumpy Trucking in negligence for damages that Brooke sustained after one of Grumpy’s truck drivers rear-ended Brooke’s vehicle while she was stopped at a stop light. The evidence phase of the trial is over and you and your supervising attorney are preparing for closing arguments. Your supervising attorney asks you to prepare a PowerPoint presentation with a timeline to display all of the sequence of the facts admitted into evidence at the trial to the jury to support the attorney’s closing arguments.

The facts are as follows:

  1. On June 1, Brooke was stopped at a red light when the Grumpy driver operating a Grumpy Truck “rear ended” her vehicle.
  2. On June 1, Brooke was transported to the hospital via an ambulance for neck and back pain.
  3. On June 2, Brooke underwent an MRI and was diagnosed with a ruptured disc.
  4. On June 3, Brooke underwent surgery to repair her disc.
  5. On June 3, the Grumpy driver was arrested for reckless driving as a result of hitting Brooke’s car.
  6. Brooke was out of work from June 1 through June 21 and lost wages.
  7. From June 3 through September 3, Brooke underwent painful physical therapy three times a week
  8. On September 15, Brooke’s doctor diagnosed her with a 15% permanent disability of her cervical spine.
  9. Since the accident Brooke has experienced pain and suffering.
  10. Brooke is asking for $100,000.

Be creative! Be sure to include at least 4 of the following features:

  1. Use a template
  2. Modify the color scheme
  3. Use at least two different slide layouts
  4. Change the background style
  5. Add graphics or pictures
  6. Add animation
  7. Add audio (narration)

Finally make sure to add a timeline for the final slide wrapping up the facts for the jury.

Part 2:

Pretend you are a newly hired paralegal. Your supervising attorney has asked you what technology you believe is necessary to help a small firm run efficiently. Please use all the knowledge you have gained this term and make a list of the necessary hardware and software needed for a small firm. There are five attorneys, three paralegals and a secretary. Make sure to explain your suggestions.

Before turning in your paragraph please utilize security features to protect it. In your document, indicate what security features you used and why these features are so important to a legal professional. Please provide the password in the Dropbox comments so that your instructor is able to open your document.

answer at least 2 question or as many as you d like as long as it s at least 1800 words theory of knowledge essay

Theory of Knowledge — PHIL 215/315 – Spring Term 2018

Midterm – Take Home Essay Exam/Assignment

Instructions: Taking into account the variety of readings, class material, and assigned texts, and discussions, in which we have engaged so far this semester–compose a scholarly essay or group/set of scholarly essays addressing at least two of the questions listed below. (You may answer as many of the questions as you wish, but you must answer at least two of them.) In these essays, I want you to take a definitive position (or positions) and defend it/them. I really do not care what position(s) you take at this point. What I am looking to see is how well you defend whatever position(s) you decide upon, and probably equally importantly, how much you have absorbed from the course exhibited in the formulation of your defense. Do not be afraid to take any position (or positions) with which you think I may disagree. It may be in your best interest to do so. I am far more interested in the argument(s) you construct, than in the specifics of the conclusion(s) you decide to defend! In all of your answers/ essays, focus especially on the following central theory of knowledge questions: What do we know? How are we to decide whether or when we know? What is the extent of our knowledge? And, what is or are the criteria (or criterion) of or for knowledge?

The total length of answer for PHIL 315 students should be 1800+ words. (That is, the total length of answers for all the questions you answer can be whatever length you choose, for PHIL 315 students this length must be at least 1800 words.) In addition, the totality of your essay answers to this assignment must contain at least five separate cited direct quotations or cited indirect references to texts or readings which we have assigned or recommended so far this semester – including everything which has been put up on D2L. All of your answers should be either typed or word-processed.

Furthermore, all answers should be as clear, lucid, concise, precise, and to the point as you can (or as is reasonably and practically possible). If you quote or paraphrase any document, including our required texts, required course readings, any additional reference text(s), or anything you find on the internet, you must cite it, including page numbers, or, where necessary, virtual page numbers, or possibly paragraph numbers. Please turn in these assignments to the D2L drop box I will establish. In addition, also turn in both paper and electronic copies as a failsafe. Best of luck!

Best of luck!

What are these skeptical possibilities? Do you think Descartes is right in his view that we do not know with absolute certainty anything about the external, non-subjective world purely on the basis of perception? Why or why not? Do the philosophical views of other authors investigated this semester (so far), in addition to Descartes, shed light on this question? Explain and defend your answer.

  1. Descartes admits that he could be wrong when he thinks he sees a light, hears a noise, or feels heat. However, he says he could not possibly be mistaken if he believes that he seems to see a light, hear a noise, or feel heat. Is he correct about this? Why or why not? Do the philosophical views of other authors investigated this semester (so far), in addition to Descartes, shed light on this question? Explain and defend your answer.

What are your critical thoughts regarding such arguments? How well do you think these arguments either succeed or not succeed? In your view, are these arguments cogent? Why or why not? Do the philosophical views of other authors investigated this semester (so far), in addition to David Hume, shed light on this question? Explain and defend your answer.

week 1 discussion 25

Week 1 Discussion

Defining Crime

Criminal laws change to reflect the values of society and policymakers; therefore, public policy on crime is always changing. Acts that were once illegal are no longer prohibited by law, and misdemeanors are now felonies. For instance, from 1920–1933, it was largely illegal to sell alcohol in the United States. The recent legislative changes in some states regarding marijuana use provide another example of how the law can change to reflect societal values. Laws for prostitution and gambling have also varied significantly over time.

For this Discussion, review the Learning Resources and consider how statutory classifications of crime vary across time and place.

Post by Day 3, a contemporary example (U.S. or international) of an act that has been criminalized, legalized, or switched from being a misdemeanor to a felony in the last ten years in response to the influence of societal factors (e.g., cultural values, political pressures or public morality). Explain the development of this change (e.g., criminalization, legalization) and the societal influences that you believe provided the impetus for this change. Then, explain the challenges or benefits of the law changing as a result of these factors. Justify your response.
