GEL-6.1: Demonstrate knowledge of various methods of research design.

GEL-1.1: Demonstrate college-level communication through the composition of original materials in Standard American English.

As you have learned during this class, the many methods of research available make it helpful to think through the different options prior to determining which research method is appropriate for your study. It is important to think of what is most needed from your study results when choosing what method to use. If a researcher wants to study an exercise intervention for reducing depression, s/he might study this approach in depth with one person using a single case study, s/he might try to study this by watching people and collecting observational data, s/he might survey people on their rates of exercise and their moods, s/he might collect data from people who regularly use their gym membership and people who do not in terms of their mood, or s/he might randomly assign people to receive or not receive an exercise intervention. Different research designs yield different data. The data obtained, in turn, impact the conclusions that can be made and the implications of study results for professionals working in the field.

For this expository essay, you will identify uses, strengths, and limitations for main study methods discussed in class for a topic of interest (ideally the topic you have used for the course learning activities, but this is not required). You will then choose which of these methods you think is best for studying your research question and design a study using the chosen method. You will present hypothetical findings, discuss limitations of your study, discuss areas for further research, and discuss how your study findings could be used by professionals in the field. Please see the Unit 9 assignment template for more information.

Help me in the question below

As this class draws to an end, you covered a vast amount of material pertaining to business law. From the classifications of law, contract formation, illegal agreements and various types of property, to business ethics, you gained further insight into how businesses should operate.

For your final assignment, you will be creating a brochure that informs an audience as to all of the amazing topics that you covered. In your brochure you will need to include:

  1. A definition of Business Law and why one should study it.
  2. The difference between Business Law and Business Ethics.
  3. A list of topics covered with a brief description for each one. Remember this is a brochure so there will not be a ton of space. You want to hit the highlights from each week.
  4. A section on emerging trends related to business law.
  5. Key takeaways from this course. How will you use the information from this class?

The brochure that you are creating is to be a tri-fold design, double-sided. Draw attention to your brochure by using well-placed art, an easy to read design with your content, and use of color.

As with all assignments, use proper grammar and spelling. Although the Drop Box calls for a Microsoft Word document, you may utilize other software as you see fit.

Race: Are we so different?

Please read through the requirements & using APA citation!!!!!!!!!!

INTRODUCTION

Anthropologists are at the forefront of understanding cultural and biological variation in humans. For this activity, you will ‘visit’ a museum exhibition that was specifically created to address issues of race and racism. The exhibit is also available online, so we can access it for this discussion.

“This exhibition was developed by the Science Museum of Minnesota in collaboration with the American Anthropological Association. Since its original run in 2007, RACE has sparked conversation and contemplation at institutions in over 25 cities all across the United States. By deconstructing historical, scientific and social ideas of race, the exhibit helps guests understand what race is and more importantly, what race is not. It accomplishes this by focusing on three main themes: the everyday experience of race, the history of the idea of race in the United States and the science that is challenging some commonly held ideas about race.” (Quoted from http://www.pacificsciencecenter.org/Exhibits/race (链接到外部网站。))

The exhibit came to Seattle at the Pacific Science Center, so perhaps you may have seen it in 2013/2014.

RESEARCH

1. For this activity, first read the textbook material on race so that you understand the anthropological viewpoint on this subject.

2. Review the textbook PowerPoint on Chapter 14-Inequality posted in this week’s module.

3. Use the website below to complete the research. It is the online version of the touring museum exhibit which you can access electronically:http://www.understandingrace.org/ (链接到外部网站。)

4. After the website Introduction, you will see this page.

RACE-AAA-Home page.JPG

Click on the middle image/title labeled “Human Variation” (Please note that the large composite photo on the left of this page will continuously change so that you may not see the exact image.)

5. Once you are on the “Human Variation” page, FIRST take the “Human Variation Quiz” and keep track of your results. There are 10 questions, so you should record your score out of 10 points.

6. After you finish the quiz and have recorded your score, proceed through 5 of the 6 parts (The Human Spectrum; Only Skin Deep; Our Molecular Selves; Health Connections; Race and Human Variation).

7. Re-take the “Human Variation Quiz.” Keep track of your score and note if the first quiz score is different from the second quiz score.

DISCUSSION

Answer the following questions as thoroughly as you can. Each answer should be several paragraphs long with details. Be sure to cite references when appropriate.

  1. What evidence was presented in the exhibit that debunks the concept of race as a natural or biological category? Discuss at least 3 different types.
  2. Report your two quiz scores. Analyze your quiz scores and discuss reasons for either differences or similarities in performance.
  3. How does the material in the textbook and the exhibit exemplify the anthropological perspective on race? How does this perspective compare to how you previously have thought about race?

Unit plan paper: genre of literature, writing assignment

Unit Plan

As we have learned over the last five weeks, using literature in the classroom is a powerful tool for helping to meet your students’ developmental needs.  For your Final Project, you will build upon the lesson that you created in Week Two of this course and develop it into a week-long unit.  Your unit will need to include the following components:

  1. A paragraph introducing your theme or concept for the entire week.
  2. A rationale for your unit that clearly describes the stage of development the students you will be teaching are in.
  3. A paragraph describing the work of a theorist whose beliefs help to support the use of this unit within this stage of development.
  4. Create five different lesson plans that relate to the chosen theme/concept of your unit.  One of these lessons should come from the Story Element Lesson Plan you created in Week Two.

  5. Explain how the objectives for your lessons measure concepts discussed in class (phonemic awareness, alphabetic principle, character, setting, plot, theme, etc.).
  6. Identify and discuss a different genre of literature for each lesson plan (poetry, nursery rhymes, tactile books multicultural books, picture books, non-fiction books, series books, etc.). Feel free to use some of the literature you included in your weekly discussions if they are appropriate to your theme and stage of development.
  7. Create a plan for how you will share the literature that you are using with your students’ families so they can help to support literacy acquisition. You could create a newsletter, plan a family literacy night, or even choose some ideas from the Parent Literacy Presentation you created in Week Three.
  8. At least one scholarly source in addition to your textbook.

You will submit your unit as an eight- to ten-page word document, not including the title and reference page.  Make sure you properly format your Final Project according the APA guidelines

Social Media Debate

Social Media Debate

Social media has created virtual communities and networks that allow users to interact and collaborate across time and space. It has become one of the most powerful sources for news updates and communication in the 21st century. Social media sounds like a perfect tool for teachers, and yet its use has been limited in training and teaching. Critics argue information found on social media cannot be trusted, and the reliability of information presented is questionable. Issues with ownership of media content and infringement of copyright, privacy rights, and lack of focus on educational purposes have all come into question. Some even fear that the use of social media can become addictive.

On the positive side, social media allows individuals to advertise themselves, form friendships, host discussions, expand their environments, create, share, exchange information, and collaborate on large projects with expanding vision. An example of the positive effects of social media is the Egyptian revolution in 2011, where people used Facebook (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. to organize meetings, protest actions, and inform the world in real time. Reading the articles, blogs, and shared documents below:

Then, briefly debate the issue. Find your assigned debate group by the first letter of your last name below:

If your last name begins with M – Z, you will argue that social media is negative tool for application to learning environments.

Due by Day 3. Initial post. In addition to the required resources, conduct research on the pros and cons of using social media in a learning environment using web resources and the Ashford library. Develop a cohesive and research-based argument for or against the use of social media based on the position you have been assigned.
